Industrial chamber promotes energy savings

In order to increase competitiveness in the industrial sector, about 70 companies in the region were integrated to the new energy saving plan, provided by the new structural energy reform. This was promoted by the thermoelectric company INTERGEN, SEDECO and CANACINTRA

CANACINTRA president noted that companies will not only receive cheaper energy rates but it will also contribute to reducing the environmental impact by using natural gas resources, although it’s a benefit meant for the industry, they will generally seek for partners  that can access this new plan of energy competitiveness. This presentation was made during the “soluciones Energeticas para Baja California” forum.

He mentioned that in the first phase, the thermoelectric company INTERGEN, located in the state capital, will provide 80 megawatts to feed industries that consume up to one megawatt each month. The president of industry stressed, that although the savings depends on the company’s turnover, it’s estimated to be 10% to 15% on average.

He also noted that in the industrial revolution experience by the city, the manufacturing sector has to discuss new strategies to tie benefits of the energy reform. With this the beneficiary companies could get a cheaper cost by INTERGEN.

Among the companies summoned to the meeting, led by the industry body, are Pasteurizadora Jersey, aluminios ABC, Manitowoc, Corrugados of Sonora, Dart Container, Honeywell, MAM de la Frontera, PC Baja, furniture Baja California, Maypa, among others.
