National Safety Month: Work Hard, Stay Safe.

Posted on Share on:

June is National Safety Month, dedicated to enforcing safety at home, in public, and in work environments, and aiming to reduce injuries. When in the workplace, companies are devoted to ensuring the safety and well-being of all their employees, including you! However, a project supervisor can only do so much; your safety also falls on your shoulders. Atisa provides three simple guidelines that will help employees prevent common work-related accidents in the construction industry.

Pay close attention to your safety training.

It’s understandable that you are eager to start working the minute you set foot on the construction site. It’s also common for one to feel invincible and disregard all protocol just to get the job done. “It won’t happen to me”, you say. However, there’s no need to be taking risks, and you can be an even more efficient part of the team when you follow your safety training. Flip through your manual, study it, because knowing your stuff shows responsibility and could spare you and others a trip to the emergency room.

Watch your step.

Secondly, get familiar with your surroundings, it’s important to know where everything is located in order to know where you are going. You can never be too careful, so be on the constant lookout for any potential safety hazard and point it out as soon as possible. Always watch your step, and make sure you know who to contact in case of an emergency.

Follow the rules.

Lastly, be sure to use all tools and machinery correctly and take all the necessary safety precautions. No matter how uncomfortable your helmet is, or how heavy your steel toe boots are, they are crucial for your safety and protection. You never know when a stray brick will come falling towards you. It’s always better to have a sweaty forehead than to leave yourself exposed to accidents.
