Starting the first month of the year 2016, Mexico and the U.S. already intend to work as a team with the objective of fortifying trade between both nations. To that end, the \u201cUnited States-Mexico Cargo Pre-Inspection Program\u201d has been set in motion, which should prove to be highly effective in making cargo-related paperwork more agile at border crossings.<\/p>\n

With this plan, which will initially take effect at three border locations, cargo inspections will only be carried out once by authorities from both countries at a specific point, unlike the current process of having to undergo checks when exported and once again upon arriving at the import destination. This process will involve a novelty inspection, since the verification will be carried out in one spot by both Mexican and American agents.<\/p>\n

CANACINTRA<\/a>\u00a0Tijuana Governing Board President Ren\u00e9 Romandia Tamayo stated that \u201cCrossing will be faster; this project of having an inspection performed by both countries is novel, interesting and of significant importance since both countries are working hand in hand. For Baja Californians and for Tijuana it\u2019s a very good thing that will help cargo transportation from getting crowded.\u201d<\/p>\n

The C\u00e1mara Nacional de la Industria de Transformaci\u00f3n (CANACINTRA, National Chamber of Manufacturing Industries) president considers that, even though this is a trial, it may be applied to all of the country\u2019s customs, mainly for export products.<\/p>\n

In this way, Mexico and the United States are deeply bound by trade, their working methods based on efficiency in order to achieve safety and competitiveness. By showing an interest in this new program, costs and waiting times will be diminished when transporting goods.<\/p>\n
