Benefits of having a port for the industry

Posted on Share on:

Since ancient times, the oceans have given humanity the possibilities of not only moving from one place to another but also made trade between far away countries possible. Although we now have a vast amount of roads and railroads, marine transportation is the preferred method of transporting goods from countries that don’t share a common border.

Marine transportation offers four nearly impossible to match advantages over any other way of transportation.

Storage capacity

The transportation method with the largest cargo area is the cargo ship, which allows great quantities of merchandise to be transported in a single trip.

Stability

Cargo ships can leave the ports and arrive to their destinations on time because delays are less common due to weather changes, which is where this form of transportation differs from airplanes, trains or tractor trailers.

Easily transports merchandise

There are different kinds of merchandise that’s impossible to transport by plane which makes marine transportation that much more important. Thousands of tons can be transported in a single trip.

Lower transportation cost

Sending merchandise from greater distances is cheaper on a ship than it is on any other kind of transportation. You could also send thousands of tons on a single trip.

Having a nearby port could help any company that wants to export their products or import resources save on costs. Ships offer large containers in which merchandise is transported.

Tijuana doesn’t have its own port but is relatively near the San Diego and Long Beach ports. Ensenada has one of the busiest ports in Baja California. The port has the most trade transactions in the Pacific Coast of Mexico.

The Ensenada port offers the following advantages

  • A harbor dedicated to servicing the industrial sector, assembly plants, and the region’s exporting.
  • A single customs agent to clear the cargo. In-bond and border crossing are eliminated.
  • 24 hour vessel service, 365 days a year
  • Direct line to Asia and the entire United States Pacific Cost all the way to Panama.
