Sohnen México’s new expansion in Tijuana

A few days ago we had the honor of interviewing one of our clients, Mr. Luis Cisneros, General Administrative Manager of Sohnen Mexico. He was able to share his experience of working with Grupo Atisa to carry out a project called Built to Suit.

Sohnen Enterprises was born in the United States in 1971. They’re dedicated to the reconstruction of electronics and appliances, although they have also produced other items. In 1990 they began to look for places where they could grow, so they began a search. They started their search in places near California, mainly because they already knew the system and labor. They also visited the state of Arizona, Texas, and New Mexico among others. They were referred to Tijuana by industrial trade delegations near Los Angeles because it was growing in the manufacturing industry. The founder of Sohnen Enterprises visited different areas in the city of Tijuana, including Parque Industrial Pacifico which is where he finally decided to settle due to the location.

Sohnen Mexico has had a very rapid growth during their first 20 years. Because of the demand they’ve had, they have seen the need to expand their business. They currently have 3 operating industrial buildings and are carrying out a reconstruction project for another one which is also located in Parque Industrial Pacifico. The industrial building reconstruction project will benefit the community by creating 500-600 new jobs giving them a total of 2,000 jobs generated by Sohnen of Mexico in Tijuana.

Since its beginnings in Mexico, Sohnen of Mexico has had a very close relationship with Grupo Atisa to carry out their projects. In regards to the built to suit project that was built for them, all of the detailed requirements for the operation of the company were considered. They worked together on the design of the industrial building because it must be able to withstand the intense workload that comes from the United States to Tijuana. “US operations are gradually moving to Tijuana which involves more space than we’ve normally had”, said Luis Cisneros when talking about his experience in the project with Groupo Atisa.

Among the requirements they requested for the project, they decided on the percentage of natural light needed through skylights, number of platforms, the location of the office area and dining area among other requests in order to improve the company’s operation.

He also commented that he is very satisfied with the quality of the construction of the industrial building which is currently in perfect condition and has exceeded all expectations.

“The interdisciplinary team involved in the whole process, from negotiation, project development and construction itself, was excellent. We had plenty of opportunities to work alongside professionals truly committed to their work and always received excellent care.” Luis Cisneros said when asked about Grupo Atisa’s customer service.
Luis Cisneros thanked the entire team at Grupo Atisa that participated in the project, as they are very happy with their end result. We invite you to click on the following link to see the interview:
