Baja California leads industrial activity in some sectors.

With the objective of starting a program to promote different items, the State Board of clusters in Baja California was installed, which is composed of five different industries, and they represent at least 50% of the sectors of businesses nationwide

Mario Ivan Martija, CEO of the “Secretaria de Desarrollo Económico”, explained that the board will be composed of a representative of each cluster, including the aerospace cluster, tourism medical device manufacturing health, as well as a cluster of information technology, which is certified by the ECA (European alliance cluster English)

“Currently only 25 companies in the country have this certification; the highest, which is in Nuevo Leon, was the automotive industry and earned gold grade. In this council’s case, four had obtained bronze and one silver, which was the information technology, having the best practices that have representation and truly engage in the category, and that are not only suppliers, they also do not have government agency “, he mentioned.

He also mentions that the state government will handle the certification costs for the cluster of information technology, with the objective of achieving a gold rating, with the industry’s commitment to improve their practices and become the second cluster with a gold rating at a national level.

The wine industry represents 90% of companies that exist in Mexico; the Aerospace sector has a third of its operations in the state and in the case of medical tourism, more than 50% of economic activity that it generates rests within the state, explained the official on industries that make up the council.
