Inauguration in Tijuana

Tijuana, Baja California.- In ATISA Industrial we wish to share with you the great satisfaction that the grand opening of CINEMEX’S seventh movie theater in the City of Tijuana has brought us.

The event took place on October 1st, 8:00 pm at the Pacifico Shopping Mall, and was attended by municipal authorities, Mayor Jorge Astiazarán Orcí, President of ATISA GROUP, Rafael Carrillo, and Director of Operations of CINEMEX, Damián Piza.

Rafael Carrillo thanked everyone for their attendance, as well as CINEMEX’S executives for having accepted the invitation to open a complex at the shopping mall. The Director of Operations of CINEMEX, Damian Piza, mentioned they expect to receive 300 thousand visitors a year in order to reach a goal of 2 million visitors in their Tijuana theatres.

We are proud to inform that the CINEMEX located at this new Shopping Mall is a state-of-the-art building, being the first movie theater in Mexico to be built using the TILT-UP method, which makes it much more resilient compared to cinder block, brick or durock sheets. ATISA Industrial has pioneered this method in Mexico having used it for more than 35 years. The method consists of building thin concrete walls that are created over the structure’s floor slab. Concrete is poured over the floor slab, and once it reaches a high enough level of resistance, an entire wall is raised by using a crane.

This TILT-UP method far exceeds CINEMEX minimum requirements for the construction of its theaters for fire resistance, thermal insulation and acoustic isolation among others. All challenges on the project were overcome by our highly experienced team of professional structural engineers. CINEMEX’S Team was pleasantly surprised at the ease with which the TILT-UP method allowed for large clearance between spans. This will allow a much better user experience than other methods of construction. This TILT-UP method also reduced the construction time of the theater by a 30%, and we can all now enjoy this work of engineering at our Pacifico Shopping Mall (Centro Comercial Pacifico).
