Renewable energy; a new reality in Tijuana

Due to the energy reform’s effects in the country, grand commerce and industry should start consuming at least 5% of energy produced by renewable or clean sources. This is planned to be implemented by the year 2018

Victor Espinoza Ramirez, director of Sunny Friend Solar Energy, said that domestic policies and international action regarding environment care, will increasingly influence the adoption of this types of energy which was mentioned before members of the “Asociación de profesionales Inmobiliarios de Tijuana”.

Thanks to this trend is projected to Mexico is using about 35-50% of this energy, either through solar production, wind, geothermal and hydropower. For this it is planned to create a standard, for 2018, which would penalize not adopt these sources.

Gracias a esta tendencia se proyecta que México esté utilizando alrededor de 35-50% de este tipo de energía, ya sea por medio de producción solar, eólica, geotérmica e hidroeléctrica. Para esto se planea crear una norma, para el 2018, la cual sancionará a quieres no adopten estas fuentes.

Tijuana is one of the cities in which the migration of this type of energy has shown behavior on the rise, the industry gets more attention and interest to changes that will happen in the next few years, in fact ever since being built farmland solar and wind farms.

Espinoza Ramirez said that despite advances in Mexico, believes that there are countries in Latin America that are more advanced in the issue between these countries Chile, Colombia, Guatemala are due to this Mexico is lagging behind, despite being a one of the frontline countries.

Meanwhile, Gustavo Chacon Aubanel said that real estate have the responsibility to inform customers and developers about these alternatives and the benefits they represent in the environmental impact and physical costs.

He also mentioned that Mexico is promoting carbon bonds, one of the mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol, which aims to cause global warming pollutants are reduced and encourage companies to regulate emissions emitted by its processes.
